Tyree Wilde


 

Tyree Wilde is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland, OR.  In this position, he works toward enhancing the forecast and warning system by closely tying the agency's mission with its customers, such as emergency managers, the media, land and water managers, and the marine community. 

Tyree graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor degree in Meteorology in 1982 and Master’s degree in Meteorology in 1984. Prior to his current position in Portland, he worked in the NWS office in Flagstaff, AZ and NOAA’s Northwest River Forecast Center in Portland, OR.

Prior to joining the NWS, Tyree served in the USAF where he held a number of positions, which included developing numerical weather prediction models at Air Force Global Weather Center in Omaha, NE, program management and served as the Staff Meteorologist for Space Shuttle Operations at Cape Canaveral, FL.  An integral part of his duties for Space Shuttle Operations was being a member of the launch weather team and serving as the on-board meteorologist for ferry operations, transporting the Space Shuttle atop a 747 from California to its home at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

Tyree and his wife Jacki, love living in the Pacific Northwest.  His hobbies include hiking, cycling, kayaking and being outdoors.
